Thuimai Vizhihal Trust provides free education for visually, speech and hearing impaired students, ensuring that underprivileged children have access to learning without discrimination. The trust supports both school and college students, helping them pursue studies in reputable institutions across Tamil Nadu. Through a nurturing educational environment, students are guided academically and encouraged to overcome barriers. The trust focuses on equal opportunities, allowing every child to develop their potential. This support enables them to work towards independent and fulfilling lives.
Accommodation & Essentials
The trust offers safe accommodation for differently abled students, along with daily food and nutritional support. It takes care of medical needs and essential health-related expenses, ensuring students are protected and comfortable. All services are provided at no cost to the children, as the trust operates without government or foreign funding. By offering a supportive living atmosphere, the trust helps underprivileged students focus entirely on their education and personal development.
Computer & Braille Training
Students are trained in essential computer skills using NVDA and JAWS software, enabling them to operate systems independently and download study materials easily. In addition, the trust provides Braille typewriter training to strengthen communication and literacy skills. This specialized training increases students’ confidence and proficiency in Braille typing. These programs equip students with modern educational tools and prepare them for academic and personal growth.
Sports & Extracurriculars
The trust encourages students to excel beyond academics by engaging them in sports, music and various extracurricular activities. Students are trained to play musical instruments and participate in different cultural and creative programs. The trust celebrates festivals such as Diwali, Christmas, Pongal and Independence Day with all students, promoting unity without religious segregation. These activities create a joyful environment where students develop confidence, creativity and overall well-being.
Competitions & Events
Thuimai Vizhihal Trust conducts annual State Level and District Level competitions and tournaments for differently abled students. To commemorate Louis Braille Day, the trust organizes special events and competitions for college students. Prize winners have been honoured by eminent personalities such as Padma Shri Solomon Pappiah and Dr. Albert Jodhimani, IRS. These events highlight students’ talents in academics, sports and arts, motivating them to achieve excellence.
Tours & Recreation
The trust arranges educational and recreational tours to places such as beaches, boathouses and Kodaikanal, providing students with refreshing and memorable experiences. Beyond student support, the trust extends help during emergencies such as the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters. It has distributed rice, groceries and essential supplies to visually impaired individuals and affected communities. The trust continues to offer relief during floods and other calamities, ensuring timely assistance to those in need.
